We are urging public school district leaders across our state to be ready to welcome ECOT students back to their schools. Superintendents and Boards of Education should view ECOT’s closure as a chance to re-enroll students for whom ECOT has failed. We’re encouraging plans to be in place and activated to bring these resident students home so they might benefit from the many exciting, viable, relevant opportunities and options of your respective public school district.
As newspapers across the state reported ECOT (Electronic Classroom of Tomorrow) could close as early as next week as its sponsor has decided to suspend ECOT’s charter. ECOT leaders are mired in legal turmoil and the movement and future well-being of these students left behind, once again, rests in the hands of our public schools.
As ECOT closes, thousands of students and their parents will be forced once again to make a choice. In the middle of a school year, they will have to choose between less reliable options and their local public school districts. The choice is clear. Local public school districts are the REAL CHOICE…Local public school districts are the BEST CHOICE.
Real Choice Ohio stands ready to assist school leaders as they prepare to welcome these families and students back into the fold. Communication tools, resources and strategies that have been designed for this purpose are ready.
